The Ponce de Leon Lighthouse is on the barrier island just south of Daytona Beach today the town is known as Ponce Inlet. When the station was built in 1887 the area was known as the Mosquito Inlet. After decades of restoration by the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse Preservation Association, it stands today as one of the best preserved, most complete Light Stations in the nation. Towering to 176 feet the Ponce Lighthouse is the tallest in Florida. There is also a beautiful little park right next to it.
