It is said that the female sea turtle returns to the beach upon which she was born to propagate the next generation.   She slowly plods up through the sand, digs out a hole and lays as many as one hundred or so eggs.  Tears are secreted from the eyes to keep them clear of all the sand.  It is rather messy work.
