When you approached the downtown area of Jensen Beach, you would see two fish hanging from a yardarm in front of a wooden, tined roof building. You unmistakably knew that you were entering some kind of quaint little fishing village. Or maybe you thought you were lost and somehow ended up in the Florida Keys. When the town had just finished construction on the brand new town meeting building in 1908, it bunt down along with most of the rest of the town. It was then rebuilt later that same year and served as a town hall and community center for various community functions and activities. For almost one hundred years it withstood the winds and all of the storms that came and went. On September 26, 2004, the old the worn out timbers weakened by Hurricane Frances, just two weeks earlier, finally gave way. Today all that remains is a vacant lot.
